We provide play therapy to younger children, using toys, arts and crafts, therapeutic games, books and talk therapy.
Because a child’s sense of time is not the same as adults, it is important for them to be brought weekly to scheduled appointments to facilitate their healing.
Children may take longer to become comfortable in sharing and a longer time to heal than adults; due to their young age and not yet having the emotional/mental maturity of adults.
Due to the fact that it takes time for children to become comfortable and share with the therapist, and additional time to for a child to process (or heal), it is important that parents/guardians bring their children to weekly therapy for a minimum of 3-6 months, sometimes longer, depending on the type of trauma, grief or loss that they child has experienced.
While children can heal, they require us as the adults to be consistent so they may have the safe space and time to heal.
